Located just outside Buntingford, it’s an ideal spot for those seeking a peaceful escape. The Aspenden area is crisscrossed with scenic footpaths. A popular 7-mile circular route starts and ends at The Fox Inn, meandering through the village and its outskirts. Highlights include the Roman road known as Stane Street, tranquil green lanes, and Button Snap Cottage, once the retreat of essayist Charles Lamb. The walk is graded as easy, making it accessible to most abilities. Keep an eye out for spring blooms like bluebells and forget-me-nots along the paths​.


The Fox Inn, located at the heart of the village, is a welcoming spot for refreshments. This dog-friendly pub is known for its friendly service and hearty menu. While main meals are served in the evenings, lighter options and chef specials are available at lunchtime. Its relaxed atmosphere makes it an excellent place to unwind after a walk​
